What is the New Instagram Feed Size?

Instagram Feed Size Instagram has undergone a major update that has changed the format of its profile feed. Previously square, in a 1:1 format, the layout is now rectangular and prioritizes vertical content. This change aims to improve the user experience and increase interactions, but it has generated discussions among users of the platform.

What’s Changed on Instagram Feed?

  • Rectangular format: Posts now appear in vertical aspect ratios (3:4 for photos and 9:16 for videos).
  • Reorganized layout: The username has been moved to the top of the profile page.
  • Borders feature: A tool that lets you add black or white borders to your media to fit the new format, avoiding unwanted cropping. (That wasn’t a very cool thing, this border thing)

Why Did Instagram Change the Feed?

Adam Mosseri, CEO of Instagram, explained that the change reflects the evolution of content shared on the platform, with the majority of email data uploads being vertical. This format improves viewing, increases user dwell time and encourages engagement.

To minimize key internet marketing trends in 2025 and tips for using them the impact, Instagram plans to offer more robust customization tools in the coming months. Let’s wait and see!

I also believe that this change was turkey data  made to better adapt to mobile devices, the screens are vertical and the more content takes on this proportion or comes close to this proportion, the better, because the user tends to see it bigger, better and continue browsing the platform.
