The first agile triangle
Shortly after the Agile Manifesto was published, a new triangle was created based on Agile values and principles (see Figure 2). This triangle considers the same elements as the traditional triangle, but is drawn upside down, with scope at the bottom. The way it is interpreted is that for a project to be successful, the scope of the project must be set and the cost and schedule allowed to adjust appropriately. That is, executives must allow the amount of money and time necessary for the scope to be achieved. The problem with this view is that it is difficult to implement in companies because of the flexibility it implies.

Cost and schedule are more of an impediment. We are almost always short of at least one of them. Scope is also an issue because too often projects are too ambitious and end up being cut back. Ultimately this means that all three are actually constraints. Jim Highsmith realized that the original agile triangle is argentina phone number library incomplete and proposed a new one (see Figure 3). This triangle has quality as one of the three aspects to consider. The second aspect is, not surprisingly, constraints: cost, time, and scope, which must be wordpress.org and wordpress.com? managed in such a way as to maximize quality and expected value. The third aspect is the most important: value, which is the measure of user satisfaction because the product or service gives them what they really want and need.

When I read about Highsmith’s proposal I was pleasantly surprised belize lists and I definitely agree with her. A successful product is one that provides the highest possible value to the customer. The benefit to the company is repeat customers and happy investors.
