Since there are two versions of WordPress, there are two ways to get started. We explain each in detail in a comprehensive post on getting started with WordPress .
How to install WordPress.org?
There are two ways to get started with WordPress.org: automatic installation via the server or manually . Before we talk about them, there are some configurations that WordPress requires as minimum requirements:
- UNIX/Linux based server (Microsoft south korea phone number data servers may limit platform usage);
- PHP version 7 or higher;
- MySQL version 5.6 or higher (can also be MariaDB version 10.0 or higher);
- PHP memory of at least 64 MB (for WordPress software only, no additional plugins).
That said, let’s look at the steps required for installation. The automatic way doesn’t need any explanation, because each hosting service has its own.
Generally, just fill in the data requested by the hosting services, the rest is up to them.
See an example of how installations are performed on Hostgator .
Manual installation
To get started, visit WordPress.org and download the platform data pack. The file is almost 12 MB in size.
Next, go to your web server and create a for those with small businesses database for WordPress. The user for this database must have full access and modification permissions.
Afterwards, simply copy and rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.
This is data that rarely changes, however, to ensure you do not fill it in incorrectly, please ask your server’s technical support for the correct “DB_HOST” value.
All this work will serve to generate your secret authentication username and password.
Do you think it’s over? Nope! There are still two last steps left:
- move the WordPress files to the desired location on your server ;
- run WordPress through its installation script. To do this, visit https://yoursite.com/wp-admin/install.php if you have installed the platform only on a separate blog on your site.
For those who are not very used to these actions, installing WordPress can seem complicated. The automatic route, in this way, can be a more viable option.
